The Australian School of Business at The University of New South Wales is proud to invite your students to participate in the 2010 PwC Australian Economics Competition and the 2010 PwC Australian Business Studies Competition.
The Economics Competition was first launched in 1991 in NSW with the aim to stimulate teaching and learning of the subject, while encouraging awareness of current affairs and acknowledging the achievements of students. It has since grown considerably to become an Australasia-wide competition with students participating from all over Australia and in New Zealand.
The introduction of the Australian Business Studies Competition in 1999 was another milestone, with more than 7000 entrants in its initial year. With the increasing popularity of the subject, the organising committee is committed to expanding the competition to all schools around the Australasian region.
The Economics and Business Studies competitions provide a great opportunity for students to test their economics and business studies skills against other students from all across Australia. All participants will receive a certificate signed by a representative from the University of New South Wales. Further, high-scoring students will be awarded with monetary prizes ranging from $50 to $500 for students in. Over 200 monetary prizes were awarded in 2009.
Both competitions will comprise of 40 multiple-choice questions. Students will have fifty (50) minutes to attempt the questions in their schools under examination conditions. Students will be competing in two divisions: a) Junior Division – Year 11 and below in Australia; or b) Senior Division – Year 12 and equivalent in Australia,
The dates for the two competitions are as follows: PwC Australian Economics Competition – Thursday, 6th May 2010 (Morning) PwC Australian Business Studies Competition – Thursday, 13th May 2010 (Morning)
